Discount on accessories after purchase?

I was just wondering how everyone felt about asking for a discount on accessories when you go to pick up your new snowmobile?

If you think it's reasonable to ask for a discount during that time, what do you think is a fair?

We just bought a couple Summit X 165" at retail and the dealer won't budge on more than 10% off accessories. I'm just looking for some general input (good or bad).

I think it is very reasonable and only fair!! I just talked to my dealer yesterday and he told me I will get a discount on all parts & accessories that I get because I bought a 2017 850X 165 from them, great dealer to work with :)

A GOOD dealership should give you at least 10% off any purchases for the first year, my dealer always did since I bought my first REV back In 04, now your buying 2 sleds, he should really take care of you!! If not I'd find a different dealer!!:face-icon-small-coo

If you snowcheck, I think your BRP platinum member thing gets you 10% for the whole season. Some dealers will do 20% off on day of pick up etc.

My dealer threw me a belt for free, half off cover and jug of oil. Probably will be getting the same treatment as last time. :face-icon-small-hap

previously i had been traveling about 250 miles to a doo dealer. they were the closest one worth a damn. they were a "volume" dealer. prices on their sleds were hard to beat, plus they'd sell parts, accessories, doo gear, etc at about 10% OVER cost. it was damn hard to beat.

i now have a new BRP dealer that is much closer to me, so i thought id give them a shot. they were high on the price of the sled and didnt think they were "able to discount parts due to BRP agreements". i invited the dealer to call any other dealers in the tri-state area and ask them for a price on the sled and parts discounts. the salesman called me back with a new, much better price on the sled and 15% off all parts and accessories for 1 sledding season.

we also deal in polaris 4 wheelers and sxs's quite a bit on the ranch. the polaris dealer gives us 25% off basic accessories like racks, winches, windshileds, etc..., but they do not give any discount on parts.

HECK YA IT'S REASONABLE!

I've been told dealers make roughly 35-40% markup on accessories, so ya, your not asking alot to get a 10-15% discount after buying a new sled from them! They are still making money at the end of the day :)

I've dealt with Action Cycles n Sleds in Twin Falls, ID and they've always treated me very good on sled deals and parts.

just beware, lots of dealers mark their parts up above retail, then "discount" it back to what retail would be. so do your research first and know what the list prices are. dealers should not take the customer for granted, look at what amazon is doing to retail, brick and mortar businesses are dropping like flies. its probably best that dealers give their customers discounts to keep them coming back buying from them.

I have seen that with AFTERMARKET accessories, but not oem. I have ever a hard time believing a dealer goes higher than list price in their oem's

I could care less what a dealer charges me. I care about the service they provide. To be honest I know most the owners of the dealerships round here and I don't think any of them are killing by the houses they live in or the vehicles they drive. But that's the American way. Everyone expecting something for free ?
