New set of sliders, 24 Kms on the sled.

Last set I got over 1000Kms on them.

I changed the sliders out and gave the sled to my father, I knew the snow might be hard in the morning so I made sure he had a new set.

He ran it and the overheat light came on. He never put the scratchers down. Waited for it to cool down then drove it back to the camp. everything was frozen from the night before, so the snow was rock hard.

Low snow Kit on the skid.

Is this normal or is something else wrong, 3rd set of sliders on the machine, last time I bought a set that you had to cut to fit, this year I bough Yamaha ones that were the proper size.

It's like something was rubbing on the inside of the rail.
I used the reverse method to get the old ones off.

What is all that stuff hair? Or is that from the hifax (slidder)?

I have seen them get hot and melt but nothing like that. By melt i mean from a side view you can tell they are worn out.

I have seen when they get hot and you stop the melt to clips on the track. That is not fun to break them free.

Hot as a firecracker! You can usually feel them sticking or smell them. Bet dad doesn't do that again. It happens real fast if riding in marginal snow. Just part of a steep learning curve! jv

He only uses it once a year. I put it on the trailer, he takes it and I say my pray's :)

Told him about the scratchers, but he just sits on it and follows the rest.

Anything I should check or just toss them and get a new set. I have never seen them like that. Feels like a grove on the inside.

I blamed him for running over a rabbit. :)

If there is a groove carved in one then check track alignment. Also check track clips. If they arent worn out yet dont change them. They should be well tempered now and will wear slower than before.
