2024 Summit X Turbo 165. First sled I have owned with a belt temp gauge. What is the danger zone for the belt? What is everybody seeing? Thanks
I’m curious what temp is dangerous as well. I have a 24 165 expert turbo and the highest I have seen was 125 Fahrenheit. Normally it stays right around 100-120.

It's not a true belt temp, it's an air temp sensor around the belt area. I believe it starts beeping around 165 and that means the belt is getting into the 220's from what I've seen... There is a thread from a couple years ago that talks about this on the G4's but not sure if I've seen anything, data wise, for the G5's with the different belt cover.
I used to do this test. Run hard to input heat to the belt. Pull up to a friend waiting to hurriedly pull the panel and belt guard off. Measure the side of the drive belt. On average, at least a 45+ deg difference from the Dooey gage vs stopping and checking with an infrared temp gun. If you were seeing 125 on gage, then high probability infrared gun at 170~175 deg.
I tested heating belts to over 300 deg. I never lost engine speed until the belt got to 280`290 deg, then was getting around 200 rpms loss at full throttle.
