My secondary clutch will not downshift all the way to lower gear, I need to dissemble it, can this be accomplished without special tools? How far apart will I need to dissemble it to figure out what is wrong?

So the sheaves are not closing all the way? More than likely a broken roller, then the pieces get stuck between the sheaves (inside).
You can see the rollers without taking anything apart....but you will need to take completely apart to replace them. Yes, you will need a spring compresser.

if you get a cheaply made c&t tool.make sure its super tight or helix might fly off like a rocket

I agree with Winterbrew
Its the "typical" roller issue.
Get the hi-torque ones and you will never have another issue, that's what we install.

winterbrew might have some, diff manufacturer, but same material.
