Made the jump

Well I finally made the jump this year. Having grown up riding bikes and spent the last 10 years riding sleds I decided it was time to make the move to a snow bike. I never had an opportunity to demo or ride one but figured with my back ground it was time. Having three little boys, two that I am teaching to ski, it is hard to justify both a bike and sled sitting around.

I picked up a 2015 KTM 450 SXF that was in great shape and a lightly used 2016 TS MH LT with TSS for a screaming deal. I got it all converted in late December and made my inaugural runs New Years weekend. All I can say is WOW! Having read all of what every one says and watching all the YouTube videos and reviews I was very optimistic. I can't say much that hasn't been said about these already except that they live up to the hype and then some. I live in Boise and ride the McCall area so I am lucky to have some amazing terrain to explore and it looks like the snow is finally coming this week to do some more.

Bike: 2015 KTM 450 SXF
Low hour bike insanely well maintained.
FMF Exhaust
Moose Racing Hand Guards
Fastaway Pegs
PLS Suspension front and rear
Plenty of anodized protection and bling
Thermo Bob 3
2016 Timbersled MH LT
TSS Install kit.

I really took my time installing and modifying the airbox to familiarize myself with the kit and the bike. I can see where going forward change overs will take an hour and a half or so to do.

Any one riding the McCall area let me know. I am the only snow bike rider in my group so open to connecting with others if they are around.

I love it!

I agree, the snowbike is a revelation. I have no interest in riding a snowmobile ever again.

Please, let us know what you think and how the bike works for you and all. It is why I check in this forum every 15 minutes of every day. Like porne, it never gets old.

Thanks Ben. I enjoy your posts and have read about everything there is to read in this forum. Hopefully I can contribute and return the favor. I posted pics but now I don’t see them viewing on my phone. Hopefully they are showing up for others.

I’ll have more to share after this weekend I hope. It is absolutely amazing where these machines go and how easy they do it. I hope to push the boundaries of this thing some more on Saturday.

Pictures don’t show up for me either. Glad you are loving it. When the cold dry pow comes you will want some kind of jacket and removable rad covers at least. Even with that i was seeing 130-140 after extended low throttle downhills tonight. Oh ya, it was good!

Awesome pics! So you are the one. (Who enjoys my posts) HA!!! I'm glad you like them since, as for as long as I'm riding, I'll keep on posting-in the winter anyway as for 100% in riding in the dirt once the snow is gone, but I'll keep at it on here as this new sport is a blast.

I know I'll keep posting pics as it is what we love on here. No matter how boring we think they might be, something is something and we can't find the stuff we talk about, discuss and debate in any magazine or anywhere else really.

There are some who want nothing to do with the Slowbike, they need their 200 hp, 425lb sled to enjoy the steep and deep. Not me, the bike is just where it is at.
