Chris: How many miles do you put on a year? Does your truck "make" you money?

Ya, she is my business vehicle.
Also have a 2016 Explorer as the family car.

I would guess 24K on a high year and as little as 12 K in a low year.
Averages out around 18K per year I have owned her.

The first $100,000.00 Pick-up.......The 2018 F-450 Limited!

Ford unveiled on ‘Fox & Friends’ Thursday the new F-Series Super Duty Limited -- its most luxurious and expensive model ever.

The luxed-up truck starts at $82,130 for an F-250 4x4, while a fully loaded F-450 4x4 Limited dually rings up at $95,750. Add title, taxes and fees and you’re pretty much looking at a six-figure truck, and Ford’s priciest product next to the $450,000 GT supercar.

All of the Super Duty Limiteds come loaded with a long list of standard features that includes a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, panoramic moon roof, unique two-tone Camelback leather upholstery, a microfiber suede headliner and a 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine.

Ford Super Duty marketing manager Brian Rathsburg said a typical target customer is someone who tows a $250,000 horse trailer with million-dollar horses on board, or a six-figure boat, and is looking for a truck to match.

Transaction prices for heavy duty pickups have skyrocketed in recent years as brands have added more upscale models to their lineups. The industry average was $55,473 in August, according to Kelly Blue Book. Ford leads the segment at $57,199, with high end models accounting for over half of Super Duty sales.

You’d better get your work or cowboy boots polished soon, because the 2018 Series Super Duty Limited is scheduled to start dressing up Ford showrooms by the end of this year.

For most of us, money kinda matters. 2017 Dmax 3500 Denali's CC long box SRW's can be had for 61ish right now. That's a pretty big gap to an 18 SD. But, it's a SD...

Exactly. :)
The ford needs to be at least 30 percent cheaper before i'd buy it.

(Someone had to bring some truth/clarity to this ford loving party) ;)

Then it would be a cheap discount GM.
And under no circumstances will I ever buy a GM after they screwed the American taxpayer fornearly TEN BILLION DOLLARS

LOL, but wait.....Didn't ford and GM just build a transmission together that's going to find it's way into Super Duty's?

Better get yours quick before the evil GM is part of your tranny.

The screwing was done by the federal government, and Little O with his band of know-nothing. GM (and Chrysler, and eventually Ford) would have went into Chapter 7, came out stronger, and all trucks would be cheaper. The folks who got the shaft were the bond and stock holders (not just the fat cats buying 100k trucks to tow their million dollar horses - 401k and IRA mutual funds of Joe Lunchbox took the brunt of it). And anyone who buys an overpriced truck now. The entire Little O crew were technocrats, without a single real world job among them. Sometimes the facts just get in the way.

T GM (and Chrysler, and eventually Ford) would have went into Chapter 7,

With all due respect, I strongly disagree.
Ford's balance sheets show otherwise.

They did not want the bailout nor did they need the bailout.
Nothing on their corporate financials suggests or infers they would have gone into Chapter 7 or Chapter 11 without the unwarranted federal funds.

===

The U.S. government bailout of the auto industry lasted from January 2009 to December 2013. The Big Three automakers approached Congress in November 2008. They warned that, without the bailout, GM and Chrysler faced bankruptcy and the loss of one million jobs. Ford didn't need the funds, since it had already cut costs. But it asked to be included so it wouldn't suffer by competing with subsidized companies.

The Treasury Department invested $80.7 billion from the $700 billion authorized by EESA. It recouped all but $10.2 billion.. It both lent money and bought stock ownership in GM and Chrysler. It also provided incentives to spur new car purchases. In effect, the government nationalized GM and Chrysler just as it did Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and AIG.

Ford didn't need a bailout. But it asked for one so GM and Chrysler wouldn't have an unfair competitive advantage. Ford Credit received its bailout from the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility, not TARP. That was a government program for auto, student and other consumer loans. (Source: "Automotive Industry Financing Program, TARP Transactions Report," U.S. Department of the Treasury, September 16, 2009.

Many argue that Ford needed the funds to sustain its cash flow during the recession. Ford says it was in better shape than the other two because it had mortgaged its assets in 2006 to raise $23.6 billion. It used the loans to retool its product lineup to focus on smaller, energy efficient vehicles. It got the United Automobile Workers to agree it could finance half of a new retiree health care trust with company stock. By April 2009, it retired $9.9 billion of the debt it had taken out in 2006. (Sources: "Obama Administration Awards First Three Auto Loans," Energy.gov, June 23, 2009. "How Ford Avoided the Meltdown that Hit GM, Chrysler," CNBC, April 9, 2009.)

Many analysts disapproved. They felt that Chrysler would go bankrupt even with a bailout, and that Ford didn't really need it. The main impact from the bailout was to save jobs at GM. But the recession caused GM to slash its employment and production, despite the bailout. Furthermore, once the recession was over, Toyota and Honda would continue to increase their U.S. factories, providing jobs for U.S. auto workers.

If there had been no bailout, Ford, Toyota and Honda would have picked up market share. That would have increased U.S. factories and jobs once the recession was over. The loss of GM would be like the loss of Pan Am, TWA and other companies that had a strong American heritage but lost their competitiveness. It would have perhaps tugged on the heartstrings of America, but not really hurt the economy. As a result, the auto industry bailout was not critical to the U.S. economy, like the rescue of AIG or the banking system.

Christopher is obviously a man of high passion and loyalty. Looking past the technocrats and marketecture of Ford and their marketeers to buy Ford - I don't care what you buy, or why, but, let some light shine through the propaganda of the media. Here's the reality:

In a chapter 7 bankruptcy of GM (or RAM, or Ford), the court and trustees can cancel all contracts, including union, and flip the single biggest liability of each Big 3 truck maker - the pension and health benefits of current and future retirees - to the Feds. Called the PBGC agency (Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.) Once the first one goes, and gains a huge competitive cost advantage, the others will, too. And that's the political reason Little O's crew did what they did - to protect the huge union donations to their political party, and postpone more debt on the USA's balance sheet. Union goes down, the party loses monies bigtime. More Fed debt, a bigger wedge issue in elections.

These liabilities may eventually doom them, anyways, maybe in our lifetime. Same for bigger truck makers like Navistar. The numbers don't lie - the are ginormous - it's the people lying about them. You can kick the can down the road, but sooner or later, the hill gets too steep.

There are eleven 2017 f-350 CC SRW Lariat trim diesel Fords at the local dealership that are currently $57,800-$66,500 depending on options. Everyone rags on Ford for being high price but I still say you have to compare apples to apples.
