how do the 2002 mtn cat 800s run in general? will they keep up with the 2005 rmk 700s or is it hard to say. and how do they do in the deep powder on hills?

They have tons of power, especially with pipes and air filters. It's just getting the power to the ground is the problem. That years track is the crappiest design ever!!!! Cutting out the notches in the track for the heat exchangers was just stupid. Throw on a 16 wide, real track and you'll blow away that rmk. If you're running stock, he might outclimb you by a little bit, but you'll take him everywhere else.

All depends on the rider. I skilled rider can make a 500 run with a 7/800 (for an example)

Same type of rider, 02 cat 800 can hang with a 05 rmk 700 and vise-versa :)

If you are going to keep up with him you will need more track and a better suspention set-up than they had. They liked to trench and were somewhat unruley handling. Get a skid out of an M and a longer track. The pol. edge was a very good climber and deep powder sled.
