One belt 600miles, running about 70 and started hearing a pinging sound wtf, then vibration got real bad, shut it down before kaboom. Tore the top into 1/2 inch chunks. Figured the pinging was the little rubber bullets being hurled about. Had checked it just before this happened and all looked good.

One belt at 850. Secondary bolt came out on a ride. That probably did not help with alignment. Yeah, my bad for not checking it. My buddy's bolt came out the same day. Weird, he blew his belt this weekend.

so i've got just over three hundred miles on mine. my first belt blew at 213 miles, just after i removed the air duct from the side panel on the clutch side. i blew my second belt shortly thereafter, probably thirty miles? The way I ride, my weight, and since I live in central washington dont help belts! Ive since put the duct back in, and havent blown a belt yet, knock on wood... the last time i rode it was raining, the snow was deep, and i was givin her hell, and no problems. So I think my issue with belts is the heat. I'm going to order a full vent kit, and get the updates done, so I'm hoping that will help with the belt life, but we'll see...

Looks like about 50% are having belt problems to some degree. Looks like the problem isnt just a few guys who complain too much.

2 in 600 miles. the first one granaded at 8-10000 ft 60 miles, second pulled string and top chunked out at sea level around 600 miles after chaincase update. first time i said anything on a forum but my dealer helped me out with warranty on the first. still waiting by the mailbox for this "free" belt from cat.

Totally stock from the dealer I blew 1 at 70 miles. 2nd at about 150. Third at about 250 miles on the sled with the strap on the tcl. Pulled the strap cause it broke
After this I got my 36* helix machined out so the clutch would see full shift and backshift. And aligned clutches
4th belt blew at about 400 miles.fml
Installed a 70 Duro mag side motor mount and got my clutches balanced by Alaska drag bike, primary was out 10.8 grams! Which was the worst the machinist had seen so far, run my alignment at 0 and my belt deflection flush with top of sheaves. Loosened my track 1/8" on the bolts because I felt alot of rolling resistance.
Now I have 200 miles on my 083 and 80 on my 084 no issues. Hope
this helps.

4 blown belts in 400 miles 0-3000ft. 3x083 and one carlisle xs802.

6 belts in 640 miles. figured out if u run the sleds no more than 2/3 throttle you WILL NOT GRENADE A BELT. if u squeeze it and hold it no matter how much u "break in" your belt it will grenaaaade and take out your clutch cover. gotten pretty good at noticing RPM change and noise when she is ready to blow. Been told by a cat tech that the 083 belt is about a 1/2 inch too short.. supporting the reason when Primary is @ full squeeze its slipping the belt rubbing down the threds till they pull then they catch on clutch and just Peeeel's itself appart.... my theory only.:baby:

1st belt grenaded at 220 (75 miles were light break in miles)

2nd belt exploded at 330 (powder day)

20T, re-shim and mo-flow vents at 440, 4.5mm was off, jackshaft needed adjustment, re-aligned, (kept same belt on)

replaced belt (looking bad and ready to blow) at 510

installed 084 at 620 (083 was still looking good)

keep us posted on your belt life. Still think this could be related to out of balance primary clutches accentuating the motor vibration frequency that the TCL sees.

I had to vote no blown belts in 900 miles but I know when to stop (which really sucks). I have worn out 3 083's and kept the dust from them. I now have enough rubber to mold a 4th belt.

I like the 084 for 2 reasons. One is less dust. It will last twice as long for sure. The other is the color of the dust (greenish). It matches my body panels better.
