Thought I would open up some dialog about best skis for the Viper.

I thought I read one post about someone loving the new SLP Mohawk, but at $550, its not one I'd consider, plus this thread doesn't have alot good to say about it, but does give some good inside about what the chassis and the 1100T have in common.

The Slydog Powder Hound & Poo Gripper ski's both favored well...

I put Poo grippers on the 2014 M8, liked them alot. But as they are getting hard to find I put the old Camoplast All Terrain 7 inch wide skis on both our Vipers. They look alot like grippers but are blow molded and very light. At $200 bucks delivered the price is right. As they do not make them for Viper I bought a set for the old M series sled and adapted them. You can find them on Ebay by searching for "Camoplast All-Terrain Skis, Mount Kit & 6 Inch Carbides Arctic Cat Firecat F5 M6"

Drill out spindle bushing to fit new bolts, and put a spacer in to take up slack...use original rubber.

I started by putting Powder Pros on but they had too much bite and followed the skis ruts too bad for me.

Not sure what you mean by that. You can still order them out of the parts and accessories catalog. Been thinking about trying a set for over a year now...

I do like the shape of the Camo ski, price, carbides included :)

I have to wonder if 7/8" keel is enough though, compared to 1.5" on the Gripper ski. The Camo's are 1/4" wider (7"), so they probably do float well :)

Any idea when Poo changed the design of the ski?
