The need of a passport

Is a passport needed to cross the border in to Canada to ride now or not? Seems that a few buddies say you dont need one to go ridding but I thought since 9-11 they made so you needed one.

Any input from people who have been across the border lately?

no....in fact they never even asked for ID to get into Canada a couple weeks ago. The passport thing is coming in the future, but not to get into Canada.....just to get back into your the US. Makes no sense to me.

so far all you need if driving is a photo ID a birth certificate. if flying or sailing, passport(more to get back into states), until june/july 08. then you willl need a passport to get into the states no matter how you travel, although they say that could be pushed back as well
