I notched the original pipe to clear the steering post then bolted a thicker wall pipe to the front side of the original pipe. It's not the best looking mod but it works.
No problems yet.

Do you have any pics? Sounds easy to build.

I didn't take any pics. Never even thought to take pics.
It's under my intercooler so you can't even see it.
It took a pretty big notch to get the original pipe to clear the steering post with the 3 inch block in place. Original pipe was very weak after notching it.
If you know a guy that's good at welding aluminum you could weld the front pipe to the original pipe and make it look pretty good. Reinforce the notch and have no worries.
