need help just rebuilt 800R and put a new impeller shaft now oil light came on 30mile

Hi guys so i rebuilt this motor and put a new water impeller shaft in because the gear was stripped off. so i put about 30 miles on it yesterday and the oil light came on.. the tank is just under half full of oil. but the motor shut down and will not start...so is it an oil level problem. there is nothing else i can see that the oil light works for then the oil tank..but why would it shut the sled off.. half tank of oil is plenty this is a 2009 ski doo 800r

i don't think the oil light can make the sled not start. its just a warning system not an ignition override. have you filled the res. and tried to start it?

did you fill the gear cavity with oil before you installed the oil pump

i have not tried to fill the res all the way yet i didnt want to try and start it until i knew for sure that there was some kind of sensor that could tell if the motor was not getting oil or something. I just don't know why it ran great for 30 miles and then the oil light and now no fire....i guess i will try to fill the res all the way and see if it starts..

no i did not fill the gear cavity i just put assembly lube on the shaft. I figured the oil would fill in there through the oil hose. how or what would cause that to have the oil light come on 30 miles later..

so i filled the oil all the way and tried to start the engine. there is no spark. Im lost ill check some electrical plugs but past that I have no clue what it could be.

have ya checked your kill switch and your tether out? i would start there~

You say you just "rebuilt" the 800R engine correct? did you bleed the oil pump? bleed screw you losten up until oil runs out then tighten the screw back up very important! As for the cavity? it's a must to make sure that is full!! no lube on the gear and it won't last long. Also make sure you have all your hoses in the correct location, one misplaced hose and Whoops! between my buddy who had 2 pumps fail and my sled having had 2 pumps fail I can personally tell you that you don't want to have to do that very often! did you also make sure that you got "all" of the worm gear plastic that applecord off out of the engine? NO spark? pull plug and hook it up and turn it over slowly and verify that there is no spark, if no spark the first thing that comes to mind is a stator problem?
