What's the deal in canada as far as gun ownership?

Need the PAL to buy guns but the gun registry is gone thankfully.
Last gun I bought was when there was a registry but if you asked the gun dealers they often had unregistered guns they would sell you

There is a separate license for them. I got the book for it but I haven't taken the test yet, I want to though. The gun club meets at the rcmp station or the gun range and shoots hand guns
