I know there have been other threads similar to this, but I want to make sure this is the track I want before spending $700. For those of you that have seen or ridden with this track, what did you like? What didn't you like? Was it worth the money to replace the 5.1 series track?

The camo extreme works well in all conditions. Its also nice to be able to slow down when you are going down a steep hill. In my opinion, it is better than the 5.1.

i have the same sled as you but 163 i put a 174 on just the track alone made a huge difference in powder i know its longer but even a 163 camo exstreme would make a huge difference first thing i would change if i bought a new sled would be the track to a camo exstreme

I just picked 1 up for my M yesterday new from Tracks USA for $400 fully clipped. Otherwise they are on sale for $299 plus s/h (usually $10). Mine is a 2.5" x 153" Extreme. The lugs are VERY "stout" at the base, I know 3-4 guys that have it & swear by them. Give em a call 1-320-382-6128.

My track tore on my 08 800 dragon....ended up being the best thing that could have happened. Made a night and day difference on my sled in all snow conditions. I love it. You will not be disapointed....

Put one on my 09 163, made a big difference. NO comparison to a 5.1, anywhere. I would not hesitate to make this upgrade again if needed.

Anyone know if you HAVE to trim the 2.5 inch lugs to avoid contact with the tunnel on a dragon? Also, what is involved in trimming the lugs, (tools used, etc.)? Thanks.

From the outer edges, trim about 4 1/2" toward the middle, 3/16" off the lug height. This will provide a little clearance for the heat exchangers. The center is fine. You should be able to see where the stock track was rubbing, trim from those areas mentioned above. I used some small metal snips, worked great, and pretty fast.

Thanks for the replies on how to trim the lugs, seems pretty simple. Has anyone had any experience running a 2.5 track without trimming the lugs on a d8?

track?

I read on here that its not that big of a deal because the 5.1 has 2.4 lugs but they say do the drop and role and don't worry about clearance

the stock 2.4 doesn't have enough clearance IMO. so the 2.5 is going to be even tighter. has to do with the force it takes to get the snow and air through such a tight space. forget the technical term, mountain horse has talked about it quite a bit in other posts. do a search and you should be able to find more details. but yes, i did a d&r with the camo extreme and love it.

That would be 2 1/4 not 2.5. The lugs on the 2.5 are alot stiffer han the 2 1/4. The 2.5 is on the 156 and works with a stock skid, 2.25 is the oem track from 06-08 on m-sleds. It tents to bend over, the 156 doesn't.

I just ordered the Camo Extreme 2.5 today for my 09 D8 from TracksUsa. Bruce told me that the 2.5 will fit fine. If not, I'll trim as needed.
