I read somewhere that the hoods are removable on the 08's. Have also heard that if you unplug the guages and headlights on the older models that you could blow the ecm. Did they change this so that its ok to remove the hood and ride?

You can remove the hoods on the 07 and 08 M's without problems

Are you sure about this?
I've seen a few discussions on this, but it's all been based on rumors. Noone could say for sure.

The electrical system is totally different on the M8 and M1000 than the M7. You can run the M8 and M1000 without the hood with no problems. The CCU units is a regulator and will keep everything happy

Guess this goes for my CF8 to?
Damn, and I've just installed an on/on switch and resistors to be able to turn the lights off

I have 200 miles on my 07 M8 Turbo and have been running w/o the hood. No problems to date.
