Is chewing through rubber ski stops common?

Update

Finally heard back from the examiner and attorney on the utility patent... we are officially patent pending and clear to release information!

When I get back to the office tomorrow I'll do a full update as previously promised, including photos, pricing, ordering info, etc.

Production is still planned to begin tomorrow afternoon and we should still be able to get the first sets of these out next week! :face-icon-small-hap

The problem I see with a harder compound of rubber or other hard durometer material is the possibility of it compressing the ski material further. We already see this on the stock Axys and Pro ride rubbers as the ski's rubber support area pushes away leaving less support for the rubber. You then can force it back with a heat gun but it does not last forever.

I filled the void in my Pro ride skis with a two part epoxy with good results and it appeared the rubber lasted longer. I have not done this to the Axys as I am trying a different rubber in one ski and a stock in the other to get a better snap shot of what is working better.

I do not know if the ski support crushing is a result of the initial rubber wearing/tearing or it is a result of the force of the spindle pushing down into the softer rubber. Also not everyone runs their spindle centered either, so when offset there is less material of the spindle to contact the rubber.

I believe a wider rubber/compound is better at this point. The weight penalty is in the measurement range which I would consider an insignificant amount.

That's fair.

By all accounts it sounds like you are going to be producing a quality product to remedy yet another shortcoming of the OEM.

Just a word of friendly advice / caution. Don't resort to negative campaigning to pitch your product. There is enough of that on these forums from time to time.

Anyway, good luck with your endeavor! I'll likely be ordering a set when the Ski doo rubbers that are currently installed my Grippers wear out.....

All- got a email from Gulfi today-

He is figuring with the quanity I am wanting OUR cost would be $35/set- and $350 total for shipping .
That breaks down to about $7.00 /pair for shipping overseas to each buyer.
( I am assuming) then I would send a flat out to each buyer and (assuming again) about another $5-$7 to mail to you in the lower 48.

I have asked for a time frame for him to ship- and waiting on a return email..

So just wanted to keep all intrested that have spoken up for a set .
Last count I have about 60 set's spoken for. Let me know who wants to back out
so this is not overordered-since there is another avenue on this post that peeps may be leaning toward.
Keep all posted- Please NO $$ yet till this is all finilazed-

are you selling them on EBay-amazon-do you have a sight??? sounds like you are making my set tomorrow afternoon

and I need them in my sled for Saturday {if I can get someone to go riding with me!!} thanks for the speedy production of the product. I am excited to see a set last or at the least ecstatic to not take my skis off 5 times a year and waist my $$$

. I know you have ben swamped but have you looked into the engine mounts at all? I have this bad feeling that mine are soon to need replaced {judging from what 99.9% of all axys owners have experienced} and would love to see if you think you can improve the durability without making them harder. just hate to buy a set of stockers when I know I should be buying 3 sets! any hoooo look forward to trying the rubbers thanks again.

No REAL WORLD testing on these . just cad design and compound configuration by your elastomer engineer.
Just a dumb Ole equipment operator here, but I'd have reservations buying until some feedback compiled.
Such as the forum positive reviews on gulfi's rubbers.
I'm still in sage crusher.

im still down for the set I wanted sage for 50$ I wont complain at all!!!{even if 50% back out on us it wont kill shipping prices... extra 7$} I'll put 1 of each in {durapro and gulfis} and give them both hell and let you all know what I find out!!

on a side note sage......do you live in AK??

Thanks for the kind words of advice. I believe competition is healthy and helps drive further innovation, so we plan on keeping our marketing and product description technical, letting the real world testing speak for itself and pushing the fact that ours is made entirely in the USA!

The only negative thing would occur if we were forced to protect our patent rights. I don't see that happening though... (Gulfi's and others' current design do NOT infringe our our patent rights, and vice-versa).

Anyway, at that point after taking all into account, people can give their own reviews and make their own informed decision on what they would like to purchase for their sled. :face-icon-small-hap

Thank you too! Yes been swamped for sure between this project and the normal course of business.
To answer your questions, at this point in time we are planning on selling on our own secure site, which is currently going under a major overhaul. In the meanwhile for the sake of expediency, we're considering just use Paypal for the first few orders.

Sorry, no time yet to thoroughly check out the engine mounts, but plan to over the next few weeks. Realistically, if we do make something, I don't foresee them shipping for at least 2 months. :face-icon-small-dis

Ok Gents..Gulfi emailed me this morning,said his plan is to ship in 10-14 day's
Shipment takes 5-6 day's from his shop to my shop UPS.

He is planning to have these in my hot hands before Christmans!
Once I reveive the bumpers- I will post on here and/or peeps can P/M me their contact information, or email me @ jwkruljac@msn.com.

I think Paypal would be the best to send money- cause taking Credit cards will end up costing me.

Move / Begin new thread?

Good afternoon! I have a question for the moderator / all of you.

I just got back into my office and want to reveal the DuraPro™ Ski Dampener with photos. It dawned on me though that a post this far into a thread is not view-able to some. Especially just some average person connecting through a Google search.

Therefore, I'm curious if it's possible to move the thread to a new one (or at least connect this one to the new one) so that my post is towards the beginning in the new one? It certainly would be beneficial, but I want to make sure I'm following the rules.

Gulfi got this ball rolling. And I originally agreed to gulfis product. I really appreciate durapro coming to the table, which is amazing. I now need three sets. So ill be going with my original request of two from gulfi. To be clear, will they fit all grippers? Like iq and pro chasis?. Thanks to gulfi , sage, and durapro. Also has anyone got a durapro dampner in their hand yet?

You're very welcome, and thank you for your kind words! Speaking only for the DuraPro dampeners, yes they should fit all gripper skis. The question of fit doesn't remain with the gripper ski necessarily, but with the spindle angle (as explained in the new thread). That needs to measure 113 - 117 degrees to PROPERLY fit our dampener.

I suppose you could force a tiny bit larger angle than this into it. And a smaller angle would give you a "rocking" slop of the ski. Not ideal, but either way the DuraPro dampener would still function and do it's job.

We haven't shipped any of these yet, so if someone has one in their hand, that's concerning! LOL :eyebrows:

Yes the bumpers are focused on the grippers... and have already been tested and proven to work for the need on the issues Polaris has blessed us with.

People here in Sweden have had problems with them for years now.
Have made the wider and made after the "bottom" of the ski so they don't "pop out"

Couldn't have been much testing. Considering the time line of design / compound configuration etc.
As of 11-16 the elastomer mix had not been finalized (per your own post)
Even polaris rubbers last this amount of time.
