Impressive on a Dyno, let see how the drivetrain holds up.
Thanks for chiming in Jim! Sounds like a very good start to finding out what the potential of this motor is. And what better place to prove then on your dyno. :face-icon-small-winwe ran 20 dyno tests on the bone stock but boosted engine, have four dyno tests posted on my website 15-22 psi boost, including one 400 hp run at .60 plus BSFC 10/1 A/F but that doesnt mean "trail friendly". This is race gas short blast territory but shows how dandily this engine takes to pressurecharging. Could Bombardier have planned it this way?
Yeah its cool that it makes that much HP but I'm kinda with Summit Guy, sounds like a complete custom drag sled that will have a custom drive train and run 1/4 miles at a time. Realistically 300 HP is probably a liveable motor, but it is still comparable to the Yammies so that is promising. No technical data in that post though, no BSFC values, boost levels etc., from what I saw to be able to determine if that HP value has daily driver qualities.
Still impressive though.
At that kind of power would any stock drivetrain hold up no matter if it was in the mountains, on the trail or on the track? I'm still using the triple motors here (Old school ?) and know nothing about the new four strokes.
mello out there big john, we all know u make your money modding ski-doos and i think thats great. but don't full yourself or anyone else into thinking that there will be a 427 hp kit for every day riders. mcx says it will be around 250 hp on there kit. I think that the chassis will have problems with even this kind of power, but it's nothing that aftermarket companies won't address. What I do know is wait at least a year or two or we will be the suckers out 30 grand and there is no way ski-doo will step up and take responsiabilty for a machine. Belt's, driveshafts, that mile long chaincase, primary clutch, etc. will be constant problems give it time dont rush. remember you can rebuild a 860r kit once or twice a year for a couple grand a pop, but that 4 stroke is a diffrent storey
