I bought the Klim ABS Escape 15.'

It has a pocket for storage of the detachable pull handle when not in use.

I have read that some recommend leaving the handle in place at all times, while others state to remove the handle so it is not accidentally deployed when not on one's back.

I'm not too concerned about forgetting to put the handle back in place before riding; I am more concerned about which is better for the system, as I don't want the cannister to lose compression every time I pop on & off the handle.

Any thoughts from the experts?

You won't loose any compression from the canister by removing the handle. The canister is not punctured until the handle is pulled.

ABS recommends removing the handle so that it doesn't accidently deploy. The packs come with a small vile of lubricant in case the quick release on the pack becomes a little difficult to remove the handle.

I also recommend removing the handle. According to their video, KLIM recommends leaving the handle on.
