Any issues with a 2006 900 RMK?

This was a snowcheck with 0 miles and would come with a 1yr warranty. The question is, were all the 2005 issues resolved in 2006?
What kind of upgrades would the snowcheck add?
I am doing a bit of research for a friend and really don't want to steer him wrong.
What would a guy expect to pay?

Thanks for your thoughts.

For a new 06' SnoCheck right now? Not more than 5 grand.

I bought a regular 06' 900 RMK last year and put 800 miles on it. I only went through one belt ('stock' belt) ... put the kevlar one on and it's still good.

I rode it damn near every single weekend last winter from january to april too ...

It vibrates like crazy and is heavy, but for the price I paid for it it was probably acceptable .... 5 grand would be even more acceptable IMO if you're willing to put up with the vibration :)

I also have a 06 900 166 I bought it for 7200 last Jan new. A friend I ride with bought his 06 900 159 for 7500 at the same time with 300 miles on it and SLP can, lefty throttle, handle bar riser and adjustable track shock on it. He sold it this fall for 6000 with 700 miles on it. The only problems I have with mine are that it is hard to steer and pushes in the corners on the trail but that can be fixed with spindles and skis. But this thing climbs like an animal, has lots of power and the suspension is sweet.

I have 2 left that I have priced at $6500, (6200 till dec. unless rebates hold) and have moved 2 other ones with out any snow. There will be a couple of updates that need to be done on the 2006 900, chaincase cover bracket, fuel float asm, and fuel tank. Tons of torque on that machine.

So are those updates under warranty? Recall? or would he have to fork out the bucks to fix himself?

Also, I find numbers that look like the 06 900 is HEAVY, like 50# heavier that an 08 800 dragon. Is that about right?

Thanks. Jim

Stated dry weight from Polaris on the 159 900 was 539lbs, 550 for the 166. We weighed a 166 wet with no gas and it was 565lbs.

The 163 800 is stated at 487 by polaris. So the 800 is something like 50lbs lighter than the 159 900 like you have heard.

The updates should be covered by the dealership. The 900 is in the original IQ chassis and not the RAW IQ. Yes, it would be heavier, but there is alot you can do to cut weight.

The 06 units have very few issues. They really respond to the SLP pipe and reflash but it does screw your engine warranty. The pipe doesn't do much without the reflash though. Great sled actually but yes heavey and likes to push on the longer track units.
