Would someone be able to tell me what this is, and should it be very hot? 2013 pro rmk with Carl's 900 big bore

Are your headlights deleted? This is used as to dump the extra voltage that the headlights would have used up.

Personally I would get rid of that and run a couple small halogens.
I had no luck with that same heat sink. Mounted 2 small halogens under the hood.
You can buy the proper headlight plug to tie into your stock headlight harness.

you say you havnt had good luck with them. what problems did you have? mine runs bad on top end , i cant find anything wrong.trying to link it to something electrical.
