Hi everyone. I am in Indiana and selling my 05 Renegade for hopefully a Summit. Funds are lower end of 4k range. Goal is early March purchase. Like the older Rev chassis. Found a couple 07's with super low miles/new condition. Original R motor though and that scares daylights out of me. Could sneak into an 09 or 2010 if patient and save a few more dollars. Would like to stay away from 08's. 06 was solid and would take that also so no help needed on that thought.. Any thoughts on an 07? thoughts on 09/10?
144 or would take a 151 also.
Many..many on used market. Any thoughts /concerns to enlighten me on would be very helpful.
Thanks!

You are correct, the 2006 Rev was the best year for the motor and clutching. I had an '05 and '07. Both had good motors. The '07 had clutch issues that had to be dealt with. But other than that, good sleds. The '08 was nice and light, but handled like crap even with the anti-sway bar disconnected. Great trail sled, but sucked in the mountains. From 2000 to 2008 (other than 2007) I bought a new Ski-doo every year. Whatever you go with, look it over well and see how it's been taken care of. For your price range, you should be able to get a decent sled. Oh yeah, go with the 151"

Big question that remains for me is a "like new" 07 with 800R motor. Well under 1000 miles. Seems like a nice find, but has original motor. No new motor from DOO or recall work done, etc. Even though it's used little, still worries me that bottom will go out very soon. This is main question I have...run away fast if no recall done ????? Also, I know the 06's very well as my son bought a beaut two years ago with 1000 miles. Anything I should know about the 09, 2010 ????

The 09's still had some crank issues but you should be able to find a co with all the upgrades for right around your price range. I think the crank issues were hit and miss my 08 had 5500 miles on it before I got a new motor and no it didn't break down just did it cause I was getting scared.:face-icon-small-hap

I would hold out for atleast a 10. I never road anything older that a 10 in the skidoo (always had polaris ) but comen off the 01 polaris to a 10 skidoo was night and day. Wont go back now. I have. A 11 summit x, 11 summit everest, 13 summit sport and a 14 sport with t-motion. Im demoing a 16 summit sp this weekend. I just dont think you would go wrong with atleast a 10 for the xp chasis. I have all stock besides the cans and quick clickers and scratchers never had anything major go wrong with any. I really shouldnt say that cuz i will pry blow one up this weekend lol. Just my .02. Have fun on whatever you get and brrraaaappp on!!

Don't buy 07 with original motor. Awesome sled but motor will go. All of them I seen went at about 1000. I had better luck than most. Mine went at 1600.

if you are not "stuck" on a doo, cat had a much better 800cc engine in that era and price range
