I have one identical to that on my 2017 MC tunnel. It just showed up this year after bouncing the chain case off of a rock. Also cracked the chain case right there when it happened. Already have a belt drive so I don't have tor worry about leaks at least!

If there's no evidence of impact around your case then should be warranty. FYI your sled will be down a while if they change out the tunnel.

No impacts. Not alot of meat around that bolt. Doesn't seem to do much. None the less. Does the crack seem to spread or stay small? I would imagine the stress from the boards would make it grow.

A buddies 2013 cat had crack looked like that couple seasons ago. it stayed the same for approx 12 rides since spotted. Sled just doesn’t get used anymore so no experience past that.

Just looked at My 19 alpha and sure enough it's cracked there, sled has over 3k km on it. Must be a fatigue point. Chain case has not been hit down there nor does the factory plastic shielding show that it has.

That said it looks like a fatigue/design flaw to me, it's still rounded where the nut tightens into, so I bet it flexes around it causing It to crack right there.

If it's within warranty then you better let cat check about it. The warranty may cover for it, or no?

Anyone had this covered by Cat? I have 2 accenders with this crack, and just saw a 2017 MC with the same crack. Seems like a structural design flaw by cat.

My 2021 has a little L-bracket riveted in here that my 2017 tunnel and dad's 2018 doesn't have. I tried finding it as a separate part in the tunnel breakdown, but doesn't look like it's available separately. So Cat has evidently tried to quietly address it on the newest models.

that bolt and I think the one below it iirc were not tight from the factory on mine. neither were the bolts holding the tri-hub together, bolts holding hyfax on, and I had to tighten the sloppy bellcrank 10mm. that one is hard to reach, i rounded it off pretty good  Id recommend new cat owners go over every bolt they can reach before riding.

Have 3 Alpha's in my shop currently all 165's 1- 2020 and 2 - 2019's
One of the 2019's is MY sled 512 miles on it, and just checked all the tunnels for this weird split/crack going on and as luck would have it- I am the winner

Guess we will see if it keep's running.. Might try the old timers trick, and drill it at the farthest crack and see if it will stop the imperfection....
