Anyone know the factory spec horsepower for this configuration. Also, anybody know of a reliable weight drop vs. increase in power ratio? Example would be, the drop in horsepower from a 900 to a 700 but with the lighter weight (IQ raw chassis) how much would the drop in hp really matter, or be noticed?

i think they where 149 or 148 but they have some good tgorque way down low, ive droped a bunch of wieght off my 900 and i love it, its a 166

So torque is a consideration too? Can that be measured, or is that more of seat of your pants sort of measurement.

Horsepower is a number derived from torque and rpm. Not sure of the formula. I also can't remember what the 900s had for torque. I am thinking they were around 105 lbft??

Too a point, yes the lighter Raw 700 doesn't have to carry as much weight, but the torque of the 900 gives it that "rip your arms off" kind of power that the 700, even with a lighter sled, can't do. Plus, the 700 Dragon in stock trim isn't that much lighter than a lightly modded 900.

RJF......i'm hoping you meant to say "highly modded", not "lightly modded".......cause you gotta go some to drop down to the wt. of a 700..... for numbers comparison (i know, i know.....different atmospheric conditions, etc....) the 727 put out 150.4hp and 95ft-lbs. it has a fair bit of rip your arm off....

Yes, I meant "lightly" modded. Standard stuff like different air box, radiator delete, different muffler, and remove all the bogie wheels.

That sheds somewhere around 25-30lbs, that's getting fairly close to a stock as a rock 700 RAW.
