Narrow up the body pannel would be hard but the boards could really be narrowed up like poo did on the Pro...:face-icon-small-win

Nice project with nice support from Cat!
I will follow for sure!

Good job Cat and Snowest. I love this idea.

Talk about great marketing and publicity. Love it.
I'd up grade this sled to 2016 specs.
2016 Team drive clutch
2016 Team driven clutch
2016 drive shaft
2016 front suspension with float evol r's
2016 rear suspension
2016 3" track
2016 limited seat with storage
2016 skis
2016 fixed steering post
Carbon fibre hood
Belt drive
After market Y pipe, pipe and can
925 big bore
Vented side panels
Running boards from cats accessory catalogue
Should be able to get this sled pretty light with that parts list

I've been snow checking new cat sleds since 1995.
1995 zr 580
1996 zrt600
1998 zr600 twin pipes
2001 mountain cat 800 twin pipes
2003 mountain cat 900 on nitrous
2005 snopro snocross race sled with a 2005 700 efi motor
2007 M1000 SLP single pipe and nitrous
2008 M1000 SLP single pipe and nitrous
2009 M800 OVS turbo
2012 M1100T EVO super chute 310HP 3"X174"
I currently have in my fleet of 4 sleds the 2005 snopro, the 2007 M1000, the 2009 M800 turbo and the 2012 M1100T EVO super chute
I'd like to add a 2016 M8000 limited or upgrade a 2013, '14 or '15 model year sled to the 2016 specs to my fleet.
My 2009 M800 OVS turbo is for sale.

I think what Cat and snowest are doing here is an amazing idea.
Great job.
Consider me entered.
Thanks

After riding a rental m8000 last weekend, the few things I noticed that bugged me were:
1) clutching - engagement is way high. I hopped on this sled from my 03 800 rmk while we were in some trees, and it was very jerky, and hard to ease into the powerband
2) seat - this might just be me (I'm 6'3") but the seat is too short length-wise. I kept almost falling off the back of it, but standing and transitioning was nice. However I would benefit from a little bit longer seat
3) steering post - again, I'm fairly tall, however I kept the bars in the lowest position. With how far forward you can get your feet, the post isn't far enough forward. If I tried to ride with my feet in the footwells, I felt like the sled was making me fall backward because I couldn't get the rest of my body forward. A post-forward kit would make this sled easier to ride
4) front end - I know this was mainly the way the rental was set up, but in the low snow, it was awkward getting on edge. However, once I was there the sled handled like it should. I vote '16 front end, if it's as good as I'm hearing, why not?

Weight didn't seem too bad to me coming from an edge rmk, but an slp can would be an easy way to drop some weight while maintaining lower sound levels

I also like the idea of keeping stock graphics to make it a sleeper, but a cool, not too crazy wrap would be pretty sweet too

I know I'm probably dreaming, but dang, I'd love one of these things in my garage

One of my biggest complaints of that chassis was width as others stated (sorry to beat a dead horse). Narrow everything up, within reason of course. For reliability purposes I like the stock motor idea, but finding a way to give it a little more spunk (especially bottom end) would be great. Otherwise update it to the newest and best specifications and add the little things...tether, vents, no-snow boards, bumpers, clutching, etc.

If anything, I would base the build off of Rob Kincaids and David McClures sleds. These have to be somewhat up to Cats standards as they are factory Cat riders.

3" track, Supercharger (would be nice), Racewerx boards, Patrick Carbon Components.

So yeah basically a Cat Factory riders backcountry sled.

Thats what I would like to see, but I would ride it how ever it looked it i won it
