Pulled the sled out of storage today and pulled the belt off to replace it for the upcoming season. I noticed, what I think to be, the movable sheave insert is loose and has been wearing the belt. Has anyone else seen this?

It appears to be Ref# 12 in the schematic below.

Can the clutch be rebuild after having this issue or should I start looking for a replacement?

Thanks!

Yup, i see the link for Babbits in your post now, maybe you can just dissassemble the clutch and either clean up the part in question, or swap in a new one..... Still be cheaper that route than replacing the entire clutch...

Thanks guys,

The maintenance manual shows those parts being press fit in with a special tool (page 5.42 - https://coodie.com/polaris/1999-Polaris-Service-Manual.pdf). Wonder how much the shop would charge for a rebuild, given all the special tools required for a clutch tear down get pretty expensive to fix it myself. Looks like a rebuild is in order and I will call around to shops this week for quotes. But hey, I'd rather be doing this in September than January!

Thanks again.

The roller bushing in the photograph is also grooved. I would look for a used clutch on EBAY before I started throwing a lot of money at that clutch. It looks like it has more than 5000 miles on it.
