m-1000 first ride impressions

....used a cpi pipe and can with a d&d y-pipe...used a pure logic box for fuel (but had several problems with the pl box, so i'm going to use something different this time, probably a bd or power commander)
 
09 m1000

So far I wish I had kept my 08 M1000, the new one is so pig rich that it sucks to ride. The lighter weight is nice, but it needs major tuning help. I also dont like the white belly pan, every time you touch the darn thing it turns black!
 
09 m1k vs xp 8

rode a 09 m1k last weekend for 2 days. XP's were stock, but clutched and geared. The xp flat out blew the 09 m1k away. on straight up pulls the xp would out climb (2-3 feet powder) the cat by 20-30 feet.

What is working for clutch improvemnts for the cat? was running 7100ish, but was missing major track speed. Perhaps a steeper helix?

other than climbing i found the 09 felt WAY lighter than the 08 and loved the how easy it threw around.

The M10 should run at 7200rpms.. so it was not far off at 7100..

The secondary clutching on the M10 does not allow for any major track speed due to it not allowing to get into a higher shift ratio..

So, all the Cats will just get to max speed very quickly and then stay there and "tractor" around at that speed. defintely not real exciting to ride nor does it lend itself to high marks on the hill..

FIX the secondary issue (we have a proven solution) and then you have a sled that will accelerate up a hill (rather than tractor up it at one speed) and you will have a much more exciting sled and will not get highmarked by 800CC STOCK sleds..

cat knows the problem, their showing up this week to try and fix . got mine parked till they do something, its unridable at below 3000 ft.

Mine is so rich below 4000 feet it only runs on one cylinder! And wont rev over 6000 rpm. I sure hope there is a fix for them soon. The strange part is that it cleans right up and runs great higher up, like flicking a switch. As far as I know there is not a barometer on them, so how does it know to run pig rich at lower alt.?
