Looking at upgrading to summit xp probably a 154" what kind of things do I need to look for I know the 08 had the clutch issues that would take out crank bearings how about 09 or 10's most I've looked at have near 2000 miles

09' and 10' still need cranks by 3K. Clutching isues on the '08 were easily remedied.

09' is a much better sled than the '08. 10's get a little better computer with better rear suspension geometry but the rails are not as good as the 08,09.

Taller seat on the 10' but is kinda like a hump so not as comfortable as the 09'.

lots of little tricks out there for these years.

Just wondering why you think the 08s are better than the 08s? I know 08s had some major clutching issues, driveshafts had to be replaced, other things? I know they are the lightest of the XPs, but with all the needed updates wouldn't they be about equal?

I had a 09 and loved it, no issues at all. Just bought a 08 with some nice upgrades on it, shocks, 13 front end, etc. I'm hoping it will be up to par with the 09 I had....

08 vs 09

Crank is different and improved substantially. 10 and 11 are even better.

Ya I must have won the lottery also my 08 had 5300 miles and some change still running when I put a new motor in it. My builder said it was a good thing I did cause it wouldn't have made it much further. By the way those are all mountain miles and it's always pinned to the bars.

Some do last longer than others.

I just pulled an '08 motor apart on Monday with 1700 miles on it. The Mag side bearings came off by hand.

The 08 and i believe 09 had the ported track from the factory. They work ok but you loose tones of flotation on those deep powder days but can pick up a flex edge track for cheap from someone that upgrade to the 3 inch.

I have the '08. I haven't had any trouble with clutch or belt issues. I have relocated my center shock and added Fox shocks and a flexedge track to the skid as well as upgrading to the '13 front end and skis. I also added the T-motion after a friend went with a Tom's set up. The sled is now an entirely different beast. No it isn't an XM with an Etec but it fit my budget, and I go everywhere everyone else does. I would say if you find a good deal on an '09 go for it!
