I want to try the thursday amateur event!
I'm 48 years old
average backcountry ability
above average physical condition
Good health insurance
Good snowmobile insurance
Have any of you snowest guys done this?
And is this a stupid idea?
It really looks awesome!
Maybe a little too awesome?!?
It would be a good bulkhead test for the 850!

If anything did happen to you or your sled I wouldn't tell your insurance company you were in a organized hill climb event.

Sorry I meant to whisper that ?

Jackson

Depending on the snow conditions there is actually very little carnage if you fail gracefully. Now if the snow is set up and/or you do something really brave and misguided: The result could be much different.

I'd send some sponsorship money ? You can put some of my companies decals on your sled!

Looks like anything goes in amatuer masters..

But what is this?
3 screws per pitch?

You trim about a 1/4 inch of your track and but screws in the paddles. You do know amateur only goes to the first catwalk. Lots of tight turns. It would be a challenge but you don't go to the top.

They are required? Can't you ride without them? Can't believe one of those things hasn't flown out and punched a hole in the cooler or taken some track assistant eye out! Eye protection required!

Ripnit is correct. I believe you only get to go to the first catwalk and it is timed. It is kind of lame for the amateurs. They have a bunch of flags that you have to wind in and out. The bottom section seems like pin it until the flags and then have fun riding a rut.

I was thinking that the amateurs doing a qualifying to the first catwalk and then top finishers get a chance to try to go over the top?

Also thinking I have read that your warranty is voided if you compete in a rmsha event?

qualifying is to first cat track

The qualifying is just timed to the first cat track at jackson. It is steep and really turny like a gs race course.
Qualifying is on thursday for amateurs. Top 10 amateurs go to the top on Friday. It is a blast. You want to screw your track or you might kill yourself. It is also required as of a few years ago for safety reasons. We have received 400 inches so far in jackson this year! This year has been dubbed "Snowageddon"

Not to burst your bubble, but you have to qualify for Jackson. They don't let any Average Joe show up with a sled to race.

Even the new member classes say you have to qualify by a point system (place in top 3 of 1 class prior to Jackson).

Have you ever been to Jackson for "The Worlds Greatest Redneck Festival on Snow?" If you haven't, I would actually consider being a spectator and enjoying the beer and the carnige before you think about pulling up to the starting line with a sled! Oh, and leave MOMMA and the KIDS at home cause your going to be divorced if you bring them due to having way to much fun!

FYI, PRO 800 class last year was won by a highmark, thats how gnarly this hill is!
