My old truck was able to slip the lockup clutch in 6th and later 5th. I'm sure if I had upgraded the converter, it would have helped. However, "while you're in there" takes over and here we are.. now with a 2015 F350 6.7 :)

Difficult to find under $26000 for a 06 Chevy Duramax Allison Crew Cab LTZ 2500HD Long Bed 4WD 6.0 diesel with 150000 miles. Guess it is good to go … cant find any issues on chat sites.

So is it really worth double?

FWIW, I've seen sub-200k mi LLY/LBZ's in the Midwest for under 17k USD. Sold my clean no rust mostly stock 2007 175k mi LBZ LTZ 2500HD CCSB SRW in Jan 18 for 19k USD sight unseen to a guy from IN. Took him six weeks to pick it up. Not CA, of course, just a reference for you. Seen a few equally nice for same or less since then. All dmax's are 6.6L. Good luck.

Carfax has them overpriced … also here in SOCAL.

A new end year 2019 Duramax diesel crew 4x4 cost 50k at the dealer.

And a 12 year old cost half? Really?

How do you hot tune a DURAMAX / Allison truck?

An electric tuner OR like most diesels bigger turbo / injector ?

My 06 LBZ 2500hd crew cab long box has 170xxx miles on it and I've had an edge with juice controller on it since about 10,000 miles. Most of the miles on the truck are from pulling my 5th wheel camp with a boat behind it or pulling my very heavy 8.5 x 24 hallmark enclosed trailer and I have not had a tranny issue, drive line issue or motor issue yet. I've been taking it west 2-4 trips a year since new with the enclosed trailer or sled deck and 16' enclosed hooked up to it.
But like I said I've owned it since new and know there has not been a hot tune program installed.

Someone is offering a 2007 LTZ 2500 Classic with a GFX package only offered in CANADA. Wants $22K at 123 miles. GFX interior?

Truck is in the states … and says it will pass California smog.

So I am pulling the trigger on a lifted 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 2500 LS / LT / W/T Crew Cab 4D (6.6L V8 DI) 4WD, Letter D in 8th character of the VIN LTZ designation.

Custom interior and paint added to stock LT1 leather interior. Customization was performed at the Chevrolet dealership. Duramax diesel with Allison transmission 360HP and 650 ft/lbs torque. Torque over 600 from 1800 to 3200 RPMS and HP max out at 3200 RPM.

No rust, no damage except clear coat peeling on plastic fender wells.

79000 miles

Asking 29k offered 24k and they accepted. Suppose to do the paperwork on Monday.

Estimated average use is 143000 miles for a 2007 to today again this truck 79000 miles.

I looked a lot (about a hundred online ) and it seems under 170 thousand miles cost over 21 thousand.

NADA puts it at $23000
KBB puts it at $26000 to $31000
Carfax says $27250

Amazing info … trade in is only 20 grand !!!!

I dont mind the LT1 interior since seats are heated leather. BOSE sound system. The dash does not have the big screen for GPS / backup camera etc. BUT I had a vehicle with the BIG center screen and had to pay Chevy $300 every year to upgrade the maps and keep the map disc in the CD player.

Vehicle serviced every 6 months at Chevy dealer since 2016, no other service records. Dealer took truck as a trade in at same place it was serviced.

I recently installed a $200 6.2"Double 2 Din Car Stereo HD CD DVD Player Radio Bluetooth with Backup Camera on 06 GM SUV so no big deal to upgrade. Link it to my phone and be done with it.

The exterior has a custom 2 tone black and candy apple red with a wavy pin stripe separating the colors.

I had a 2006 LBZ.... did all the injectors and a turbo between 90k and 200k. It needed a transmission when I sold it.

It was a good truck, but the transmission was it's glass jaw. I did the entire front end at 90k when I bought it and it was still tight at 200k when I sold it. The trans might be good with stock power, but anything over that and kiss your lockup clutch goodbye.

What's your budget and intended use of the truck?
My 07 LBZ needed a turbo at 40k, and I think it may need another now at 130k.

Other than that its had oil, fuel filters, tires, and front wheel bearings at 90k. Beyond the turbo issues I REALLY like the pickup. They are super fun when tuned, mileage is excellent too.

Well looked at a few DURAMAX trucks. I think the Better deals are the GM models. Seem to have more around that are not modified.

BTW 2007 2500 was truck of the year !

Expanding search to DODGE !!!!

MEGA CAB or regular crew that is the question? Guess MEGA only comes in a short bed. Trying to figure out turning radius. 2006 last year with only smog on exhaust. Following years added EFR , DEF etc.

I found an 06 Dodge Mega cab Cummins auto 4speed 4wd with 40 gallon CNG. 160,000 miles for 20 grand. New front end, tires and tranny.

Trying to figure out what are the safety / smog issues for CNG.

400 plus miles on HWY with CNG getting 50plus MPG ? Is this possible?

I had a 2006 LBZ and now have a 2007 LBZ. I went back to the LBZ after having a 2011 Denali LML. The Denali was much nicer inside and more "civilized", but the LBZ is really the bees knees! I've considered buying a new or used Duramax 2015+, but I just can't do it! The LBZ is an incredible truck. Total hot rod. Mine is as clean as you can find at 175k.

Currently deleting my EGR and adding EFI live. Other mods include Cognito level, 4" tubo back exhaust, FASS lift pump, new front wheel bearings, Rare parts tie rods/Pitman/Idler, Bilsteins, Redhead steering box, PPE cooler, Deviant tran lines, Fuel wheels and Duratracs. Not sure I can ever sell it now.

These non emissions trucks are a dying breed.

I absolutely HATE Chevys, but for your budget I think that's the best option in an 06-07 Classic Duramax. Too many things to go wrong with the Ford 6.0 and 6.4, and I don't think I've ever heard of a friend with a Dodge that hasn't lost the tranny in it, as well as riding the worst and being by far the loudest with a tiny backseat. Every single Chevy I've ever been around (friend, family, neighbor, company rig) has had some type of electrical problem... EVERY single one.

I'm absolutely LOVING my 2012 F-350 6.7L, but you're going to have to pay more than you're budget allows to get into one. I've got 144,000 on mine, picked it up 2 years ago with 109K on it and have done nothing but drive it and change the oil every 5K miles. DEF is a non-issue as long as you let it do it's thing when it wants to regen. My 2 years of combined city/highway and trailer towing is 15.6mpg in the last 35K miles... have seen up to 18 on the highway empty, around town, or towing my trailer averages 12 for a combined of 15.5-16. Totally Stock.
