Engine damage when stinger fails on stock pipe

Jetting has been the issue with this sled from day one. I started out with 350 mains and went down from there. Also, when I had the 280's in and threw the knock sensor at 6000' it would not go away unyil I came way down in elevation. Nothing changed but elevation. The code went away as I came down the trail and ONLY THEN did the sled run like a raped ape. I am convinced NOW that my jetting is too high...got to be leaner. I tried the choke lever, the sled revs and dies....too rich. Every sled is different and this one is not a stock engine with a bolt on t kit,so there are going to be some differences.
Islandoo was also on this trip and his sled likes to run leaner and hotter than mine.

hivoltagesled--Have you checked the carb boots lately? Problems sound like my sled when my boots were starting to delaminate. Plugs looked rich, couldn't build boost, but bottom end still worked great, until the boot really opened up, then it wouldn't even idle properly. I have block offs and run 360 mains. I was a little rich on top at 9500', but the sled still worked great-until I split the pipe that trip. Just a thought. Sounds like you are getting tiny on the mains to me, I just can't imagine running that small of a jet.

Yup..no leaks.Everything is fine on this sled...it just likes to run lean and hot. I have played with the big jets and my sled gets heat soaked. When your charge tube is so hot that you can barely touch it and you are not building boost and your egts are hot and your afr is not even registering and you get a flutter(not a lean pop) and your plugs are black and you are leaving a trail of unburnt fuel in the snow and you take your airbox off and it is full of unburnt fuel and you flick on the choke and the sled dies and it runs better as you come down in elevation......YOU ARE WAY TOO RICH. Consistent equal compression tests prove that my cylinders are good. There is just way too much unburnt fuel in the pipe creating these problems.
The only time I have even heard my turbo spooling up is when I put in the 250's at 6500'.My egts were 1250-1300 and power jets open .75 turns with the afr getting close to 14.The afr is just finally starting to register and make sense with the egts. This is with the boost controller turned all the way in.It should be screaming by now,but it just getting in the zone.....gotta jet down and make some heat in the pipe.
Please keep the comments and suggestions coming as this is a fantastic way to learn and troubleshoot.

your absolutely right on every sled is different...How is your fuel pressure?

FP

Mine was all over the place the last time I went out. I think the diaphram is ruptured. I have mine set at 3lbs and at 6lbs of boost the 15 psi fuel pressure gauge was buried:scared:

FP is good,Nuttyn01. Around 2 lbs at idle and increases with throttle response.

"Straight C111"
If your not running the boost to require 111 could this be why your getting so small on the mj ? just asking.

By day 4, i was using a 70/30 mixture of c111/pump91. I dont know the answer to this question, but I do know that straight c111 is not required.

Mixture

I run 50/50, VP110 and Av gas @ 6500ft. I also pre-mix on top of my oil injection 200:1. I never have probs loading up, it always runs great with EGT's around 1150-1200 F.
