I work in a town that manufactures Exmark mowers and Husqurvarna saws mowers etc.. I can tell you this, EVERYbody in this town knows someone or they work at the plants and as an employee you can buy a 13k mower for 5k-ish specially if you buy from engineering. SO, this got me thinking....wonder what Polaris does for there local employees? Is a 12k sled out the door for 6k??????HMMMMMMMM, It would just take a ad in the local paper to reel one in.

That is foolish to even consider! The profit margin on sleds is low to begin with and they don't make that many every year. Do you really think that they are going to give them away to their employees? Even if they would, their dealers within 100 miles and even further would never stand for that! It would undermine their business completely. Ain't happening dude!

Polaris employees do get great deals on polaris snowmobiles, atv's etc. BUT they have to keep it for 1 full year before selling. If they get caught they can and will get fired. I will not disclose the amt of discount.

Wait a year and you can find super low hrs/miles, super nice machines from polaris employees. They are not allowed to even do it for family members until they have had it the year. They also have a yearly limit how many they can get

employee purchases

Yeah, I work for Kawasaki. Same thing - you can buy 2 units per year, but must be in your name for 1 year (not even a relative). 30 years ago, we could buy directly from the factory as an employee benefit,;) but the local dealer sued, saying that Kaw was competing with its own dealers. He won in court, so now, we must buy any product through a dealer. But as we all know, without a good dealer, we are left flapping in the breeze, so we must support them.

i think it is called tact
I know what tact is but i still dont understand why it is such a secret? Theres nothing that the average joe can do about the price unless they work there, so what is the big deal?

dont quote me on this but i think their employees get them at cost of manufacture..ill prob catch heck for this but i heard if from a friend who knows a guy..

I wonder what the guy who puts the caulking on gets treated like, I am pretty sure he must be there on a work placement program for mentally challenged individuals, either that or she's super cute and the but of so many "I like how you handle that caulk" jokes!!

Surely that would of been "Star city"! that does not surprise me. Funny thing is you guys on this thread say "tact" or "NO way" they will sell. Well I will tell you something, these manufactures will only protect there dealers and programs as long as there are sales. You watch sales nose dive like a mutha and the manufacture will let em rip. Seen it happen over and over. ie, I am a Performance parts dealer and they have a program called "MVP" basically dealer pricing protection. You get caught selling at a certain price you lose your dealership. Below is a example of how manufactures work when chips are down!

December 22, 2008

Dear MSD Warehouse Distributors and Authorized Dealers:

In April 2007, MSD introduced the Maximum Value Program (MVP), a unilateral pricing program intended to ensure pricing integrity on the MSD product line. Over the last year and a half, we feel the MVP program has done what we intended.

The current economic climate, the kind of which we have never faced before, has dramatically slowed consumer spending. Consequently, we feel that the pricing regulations of the MVP program are now limiting our jobbers and retailers from promoting and doing whatever it takes to get the sale. In this economic climate, that is simply not acceptable.

After much deliberation, MSD Ignition has made the decision to temporarily suspend the pricing regulations and allow our Authorized Dealers to react to the economic downturn. Our Authorized Dealers may now set the retail price for MSD products and can promote and sell without pricing restriction. All remaining provisions of the MVP agreement remain unchanged and in full force and effect. I believe this will stimulate sales of all MSD products and aid all of us in weathering this economic cycle. This policy change goes into effect on December 23, 2008 and will stay in place until further notification. Also, prior to the time we re-implement the pricing regulations, we will give plenty of notice so that Authorized Dealers can change their advertising, price lists and promotional materials. Please feel free to call Fred Petrivelli or myself if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Russell Stephens
President
