I'm trying to figure out if I can bump up to 265/75R16's on a 2006 2500HD 4x4.

I do NOT want to crank the torsion bars, nor cut out any bumper or plastic to di it... bone stock.

Any help with this... photos or direct experience... MUCH appreciated.

I'm pondering new shoes for the ole girl.. and just a bit bigger would be good.

No problem on stock wheels. I have the Bridgeston Duelly Revo 2 on mine and they have held up really well. I purchased new aftermarket wheels that had a little more offset, probably and inch or less and had to trim the front air dam slightly. I am running torsion bars in stock settings.

Nice looking truck.. Thank you for the input.

I'm keeping mine stock as far as lift etc... leveled it out by putting drop shackles on the rear and have the Kelderman air-ride to level it out when loaded... I personally prefer the stock ride height, but don't like the "raked" look...and did not want to crank up the front to level it.

The stock 245/75R16's are a hair too small for my liking, so I wanted to bump it up just a bit, but do not want to compromise on clearance... I have 235/85R16's on there now with stock wheels... and they rub when turning... so those are a hair too tall.

I just got finished replacing the front suspension with Moog "Problem Solver" arms, idlers, ends etc... they seem much higher quality than stock which got me to the 125,000 mile mark without issues...The local parts shop tried to sell me on new "trick" parts from Cognito and SuperSteer... they are very nicely buit and look super heavy duty... but I see no need with the stock-ish tires and no lift.


Anyone else have some good pics of a non-lifted 2500HD with the 265/75R16's on there...

Mine came stock with the 265's as factory option worked great , wore them out and tried 285's they sucked! Tooo much side wall would flex at highway speeds..!!!
But they didn't rub or need trimming...

Went +1 on 17's !!

Thanks, MIne is an 06 LBZ. Just got a little body work done and the new rims. No rust what so ever on the body. I have the Cognito pitman and idler support kit. Keeps tie rods and arms from moving front to back. Keep fresh on the tie rods and anything else that wears.


Mine is riding stock height everywhere. But I often pull my 4 place inline or in the case of the picture I have my quad in the back. With trailer and weight in back it appears pretty level.

My riding buddy just bougth a brand new 16 LTZ with the Duramax. Nice truck.

Do you like the REV0 2'? I have been happy with mine. I have had multilple people tell me that truck with the diesel don't even look at anything else.
 
I don't have pictures of my old truck handy - I had a 2002 GMC Dmax.

As soon as the stock 245 tires wore out I went to 265/75s on stock rims. Never had any issues of any kind, I ran one set of BFGs then went with 2 sets of Coopers until I sold it. I run Duratracs now on my 2011 and really like them.
 
No problem Eric. I have 265/75R16's on my '07 LBZ. You cannot go to 285's though. I had them on my '06 LBZ with a Cognito level kit. You are probably aware, but do not crank your torsion bars w/o a level kit (UCA's, shock changes or relocated shock mounts).
 
I ran the same size on both my stock 2500hd/s, one was 01 other was 02.. They fit fine and looked a little small to my eyes, went to 285, then 35.s

A 235/85-16 is only 1/10 of an inch taller than a 265/75-16. I ran a 265/75 for many years and then went to the 235/85. The 235 is a narrower tire with essentially equal height. I have a 2002 2500hd gas. Goes thru snow much better but loses a little of that macho look when looked at from the front or rear, but I tend to Lean toward the practical side.

Have run multiple E sets over 150k mi without a failure or puncture, more than half with a trailer attached. They are very good on snow and ice, non-siped, for the first 20k, sound great, ride starts to breakdown on the rear when they get past half worn. Wear is great on the front, but the dmax does like to wear tires on the rear, especially with a trailer. I run Blizzacks on all my cars in the winter, I have since they first came out 20 years ago, and I know what pretty good looks like in the winter. On the TJ Rubicon I run BFG KM2 Muds, not good for snow or ice, but haul well in silt and mud.

Yep, same here. Step-dad ran Revo's on his 2500HD Duramax. Too much torque for a soft tire. You have to be crazy disciplined on touching the throttle and rotating tires. It's easy for me to neglect both.
 
Used to work at les schwab. We put 265s on the stock alcoa(the HD aluminum) wheels all the time. No torsion lift or trim

Can't find a pic of my old Dmax, but 265s on stock wheels worked fine, no rubbing.
Another easy, cheap upgrade from an appearance (IMO) and functional standpoint is lose the 16" narrow rims for 17" 3rd gen Dodge rims, or pretty much any other flavor of 17-18" Ram wheels.
The 17's are cheap, takeoff sets are dime a dozen on Craigslist and they're 17x8, so wider than the OE wheels. GM lug nut caps fit right over them too. Look it up, I think it freshens up an old truck nicely.
Ran 265-70-17s on Dodge weels on the CHevy for years.
 
H2 wheels fit well as well. I have h2s with 315 70 17s with just torsions turned up and a little trim

I've noticed that on lots of the GM's... but not so much on the 3/4-ton Ford/Ram... Wonder why that is??.

Ford and Dodge ain't got no torque and the owners drive them like little old ladies. The Dodge and Ford owners I know; the wife wears the pants and has far more testicular fortitude than their Estrogenated husbands.
