850 Khaos Over Revving?!

Got my first ride on my 22’ Khaos 146 with 2.6 track this weekend. Ordered with high elevation clutching. Changed to flatland weights (10-72)but left springs and helix alone. I know book “recommends changing springs if going from 7-9k’ to 0-2k. Is this why I’m overevving? Still in break in mode (150 miles on sled). Seeing 8300-8400 rpms. TIA.

Nothing wrong with 83-8400 rpm.

But I’m going to guess if you followed half of the low elevation clutching recommendations and are wondering why the results aren’t as advertised?

#1 thing to try. = follow the second half of the recommendations……..

Anything below 8500 seems to work just fine, especially since you'll lose some on the back shift as load changes.

Just because bikeman shuts his Dyno off at 8200 doesn't mean power plummets in the real world.

If you're clutched to be just above peak power, any time you see a load spike and a back shift it will be falling towards peak power instead of away from it. Not a bad thing to lose 5hp running 1-200 rpm high.

Let me know what other things you try and what you end up finding out. I ordered the same sled with the same clutching. like you I ride in both the same elevation ranges. more around 2200 at low elevation. was hoping I could get away with just a weight change as well.

Not to highjack your thread, but how do like the 146 K? I ordered one for a back up low snow sled, is it a crazy wheelie monster?

Only 200 miles on in low snow conditions but I can tell she is gonna be a fun little sled out west. She wheelies pretty good! Made the mistake of adjusting suspension before even riding. Still need to do some fine tuning. Feel like the 2” would wheelie more?! Can’t wait til next year!
