2016 Team Clutch Tuning and Parts

[FONT=&quot]We have been getting as much time on the M8000’s at elevation as possible and we have some info to share. From an overall performance level the new clutches in our opinion are great pieces, we are seeing lower running temps, better efficiency, and improved full shift performance compared to the years prior. The new primary clutch definitely acts different and responds a little different than previous year clutches- this is due to roller size and location in relation the clutch weight pin, the roller is contacting the weight in the different location now compared to previous years. Take note one of our test sleds had the stock clutch weight bushings go bad at about 1400 miles- we started to see inconsistent performance and rpms. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]Currently we have been running our Medium Tip 0-1T 66.5 g / P-1T 68.4g in most applications from 5000’ to 9000’- we will have 10,000+ info coming soon. These weights have the same ramp profile as stock but have a little bit less tip weight- they hold rpm better at full shift compared to the stock and backshift a little better too. These have an adjustable tip so you can add a few grams as well. As for all the talk on tuning to get XXXX RPM, in our experience if you are having RPM issues it is best to change the clutch weight as that is what has the most affect and therefore should be your first adjustment in the clutch tuning department. [FONT=&quot]Looking over a few other posts we have noticed guys are running our older springs in the new clutches, this is fine as long as you are using our spring cup adaptor. If you are not running the adaptor you have 2 issues, one spring rate is way different than what spring says (it will be much softer), the adaptor brings some of that original rate back.The main reason for the adaptor is to keep the spring centered on the spider and clutch cover to prevent any misalignment or possible binding issues.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]The springs designed for the new clutches are definitely better than the older version springs, the new clutch allows us to make the springs in a larger diameter with makes the spring stringer and more durable, and less likely to lose rate over time. The rates we have for this might be a little stiff for the mountain applications but we do have some springs for this clutch and you can use the older ones with the adaptor until we get more new springs in. [FONT=&quot]The sleds are geared pretty low and we are testing several gearing options to determine which is the best once we have some solid results we will post them. Depending on your riding and what you are looking for you may want to consider gearing up or gear for more mph- see attached gearing chart. Note it is common to not see actual mph off of gearing chart, we typically just use this for a reference. [/FONT]

Does anyone know at what preloads the stock primary 2016 springs are measured at?

It differes quit a bit between the aftermarket springs and the numbers on the stock ones...

Edit!! Finally found it, for those who need the numbers on the primary springs stock is measured at 2,7" and 1,7"
