Just wondering what others have done to put a 3" on the (09) xp chassis? What drivers, and any other changes? Also, where can I purchase one? Thanks.

7T avids, trim the rivets that are directly above the drivers. Its tight but have done many and have never seen any problems. Currently running this on my XM, works great.

I have a 3 inch on my 09 Summit , Like Winterbrew said just need the Avid 7 tooth drivers and your good. Call avid and tell them what your doing and they will hook you up. With the smaller drivers didnt have to change gearing either. Fred

I have the 154 T3 tracks in stock (if that is what your thinking)...otherwise I can get a package together for you...gearing, clutching, T3 relocate, T3 drive shaft and track...

done plenty...BJ

So if I am putting a 174x3" under my 09 XP, will my stock suspension hold up? Currently on my 163x2.5" skid, I have the upgraded 2010 front shock, the rear scissors relocate, stock rear shock, and stock springs.

I have a couple questions if I go with the stock 174 Rails.
1. Will my suspension bolt right up? (2010 front longer shock)
2. Should I keep the scissors relocate, or will the new rails take care of this?
3. Do I drop the scissors relocate and run the heavier springs instead?
4. Should I be looking at putting the T Motion kit on it? (Finances are low)
I would love to put a new 174 skid under it, but the finances don't call for it. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

I would look at Ice Age rails. They will either have multiple rear scissor holes, or a place to drill your own, a shallower approach angle and are stronger. I would skip the t-motion.

3" track

I did a 162x16x3" track on my 09 summit. I think you would be happy with the 3" upgrade on your 163 over extending to a 174. That way you could use your stock rails and suspension. you would just have to get the 7 tooth drivers, gearing and clutching. You can find a good used 162 3" for much cheaper than a 174 right now. Get ahold of Big John at sled head racing he may have a track for you, and can steer you in the right direction for clutching/ parts etc.

BJ had a great buy on a 174. Just need to save for the drivers and rails. I have found a few used 174 rails, but would like to find another set of Ice age rails (174). Looks like the stock T3 drive shaft with 7T is the way to go over the Avid's? T3 is a little more expensive, but you don't have to push drivers off and on. Any experience with these?

We (SHR) just swapped out a set of stock 174 rails for Ice Age on Hobbes sled.

I suspect they be for sale. PM Hobbes or call BJ.

The T3 driveshaft/drivers is a little easier to install than the Avids.

You will have to press off and press on the Avids. We can do this @ SHR and have the proper measurements if you go this route.
