Looking at a 2008 RMK 700 with a 155 and considering buying. Its a bit high miles at 4700. Says new top end with 500 and bottom end with 2000 miles.

I know the 900's of this generation and some of the 800's had issues. Do the 700's have the same problems? What do you guys think of this purchase? I currently ride a 2002 700 with a 144 and it runs perfect with 5500 miles so this would be an upgrade...just limited budget.

Advice please?

Thank you,
Rob

I'd check out the clutches. My 700's primary went bad at 1000 miles.

What was put in the top end? Were the cylinder's re-nicked or was it a basic piston/rings job to get it sold?

If you can get it cheap, I'd go for it. Here in CO, there was a 700 with 600 miles listed for $4,500 a month ago on craigslist.

Check everything carefully for leaks.

Good luck in your decision.

Its out in WA for $2200. Seems cheap to me.

I have always said that old Liberty engines were so dependable that I didnt need a newer light sled but the ergonomics changed so much from early 2000 to like 2005 its just really hard not to upgrade.

I had one, good sled, there's some stuff to be done that's good, update voltage reg. add some ground wires, seal up the air box, rear scissor mod., and slp pipe set. it was a fun sled but its old iron at this point, go find a 16 hold over (bite the bullet) IMO

Huh? What do you consider "bad"? That is early for a Polaris Primary to go "bad". I try to keep my clutch clean and swap belts around 700 miles and my primary's always last as long as I have the sled (around 1500-2500 miles).

IMO 600s and 700s can run 4,000 miles easy with simple maintenance. I've got something like 4300 on my sled no work done, pops has close to the same on his(it was a rental previously) that he had to do the bottom end on, and another couple in our group has 3,000 on one of their 700 dragons and 5,000 on a 700 switchback with no work on either. Point being is the sleds are great, but market is bad for old gen sleds. There are now 2 different chassis upgrades so the obsolete stuff sells for dirt cheap. Perhaps have a compression test done if you are worried about the engine.
