Sorry to post this in the wrong section. I reposted it in the correct one, however I couldn't figure out how to delete this one or move it...

So I have a buddy who just tonight (12/17) went to go and start these two sleds, and they will not turn over. He's tried pulling both the cord and rocking the primary without the plugs in, and from the sound of it it won't budge. Sled has been sitting at least three years outside uncovered, both ran when it was put on the trailer last time. I told him to pull the plugs and check for shards on them, there was nothing on the plugs whatsoever, and to take a flashlight and check the tops of the pistons. My only advice for him was to put a couple ounces of oil (2-stroke) into each plug hole and let it sit over night, then see if it moves in the morning. I also told him if they don't take the pipe off and see if the pistons are scared or and check the skirts.

What else can we do to see if this sled will start or turn over without taking the motor apart?

I had a guy bring me a sled that had sat all summer in his yard and filled the engine with water when he watered his grass. He tried to turn it over one below freezing morning and tore the crankshaft seals on both ends from the ice in the case. He couldn't pull the rope so he put a pipe wrench on the clutch and turned it anyway. I am wondering if these sleds maybe have ice in the bottom ends. I would try to get them inside somewhere warm for a few days and see if that doesn't help. If it is water in them it will probably take a lot of starter time to get it all pumped out.

Pull the plugs and pure oil in each jug. Let it sit for a day or 2 and try it again. Maybe even use some pb blaster penitrating oil.

Years ago I had a brand new rollo flex witha ccw engine. Had no where to store it so it sat in the lawn with a cover over it for the summer. Ended up having to break both pistons to get the jugs off, engine was totally shot. Sitting that long is not good.
