had perks in utah spin balance my motor for my turbo cat it was 149grams out of balance thats crazy wouldn't have believed him if I wouldn't have saw it with my own eyes but it was that bad thats like 9lbs out of balance haven't got to ride it yet no snow but it has to help to get rid of that much unbalance in any engine, and one hell of a great guy as well I would balance your engines guys even if you think they are good I wasn't going to do it to my cat because I thought it was good but i'm glad i did after I saw that much unbalance in it

So......? Balancing the motor??? What is that? Is he balancing the crank? or the crank with the clutch on?

Clutch and flywheel, ie counter weight.

Does it run smooth

There has been huge discussions on this in the poo section and some think perk is piling it on but at the same time makes sense and has the degree to back it up. I just wonder if balancing it puts the throw into the bearings or not.

Google perks spin balance. He doesn't come into the cat section much because the cats arent as far off as the rest.

I too would like to know what exactly was balanced. 149 grams is .328 pounds, not 9 pounds.

weight placement

The nine pounds is the total weight in motion at a certain rpm(i would assume pinched off)?? I would like to know what some of the old Poo 900's would measure, they can make a porne star jealous. Been thinking of balancing my M8 with a aviation prop balancer- where do they add the balance weight, to the clutch cover??

my bad my math was off dont mess around with grams alot but it still bounced all over when he start with it and ran like a kitten when he was done so you tell me how that isn't going to make it last longer I dont need to ride it 2000 miles to know it helped i could see it with my own eyes just gets me how someone can go on here to try and tell about something new and right away have someone say go ride it two thousand miles i'm just trying to make my turbo sled last longer and thought I would tell others what I saw with my own eyes

Takes a lot to balance an engine correctly. Each piston, each conecting rod, then the crank, and flywheel. After that is assembled you would need to balance the clutch and put that on. It would be a long day.

I'm not a 100% sure but I think the clutch gets balanced, then the fly wheel on the engine.

He tests it for balance first and then calculates it out, then adds weight (clay) per grams and tests for balance. Once he figures out how much is needed he then removes the clay and weight from the opposite side. If it where balanced with the clutch on, it would have to be indexed or if ever removed and put on wrong it would throw it off.
On the 900 poo if you blew a belt it would throw it off, could on any sled.
There is no way to do a true balance on a crank as they pressed together, so all you get is to balance the ends
