Few ??'s

I trying to determine whether or not I should clean my power valves before the last rides of the season. I pulled the caps off the power valves and moved the slides up and down without much effort. If they move freely like this, is it safe to say I don't need to clean 'em just yet?
Also, my 700 seems to smoke pretty good, just wondering if this is normal or should I adjust the oiler any?
One more thing... Can I run a br9es plug instead of a br9ecs, which is what ski-doo recommends for on this motor.
