Not sure what elevation your riding but I don't think you should be reving over 7600 on that sled. I had 56/64s in my m10 and didn't have any difference from stock RPM at 7500 to 10000ft. Your probably on the right track with heavier weights.

Both ideas are on track I would think. Checking slippage is pretty easy, just grab a few shims for your secondary and add 1 or 2, if it doesn't make a diff. adding a little weight might be in line, the guys at BDX should be able to tell you if you need to re-weight.

you should be between 7200-7400rpm no higher. are you hitting rpm right away when your climbing or topped out down the trail. If you have stock weights and springs in the clutching, take it for a short ride and see how hot the clutches are if they are cooking its slippage. one should be slightly hotter than the other. I would say you shouldn't need much more than 80g weights for that elevation.

If you are revving that high with just gears and a can you definitely have problems. Sounds like your clutches are not shifting out due to binding or something. Don't let it rev that high. Needs to be checked out right away. No way those mods should let that thing rev that high. 7200-7400 as stated above.
Adding weights would be the correct solution providing nothing else is wrong. Is it possible your tach is incorrect?

With your lower gearing you should be able to run 80 gram weight and a 40 degree helix.

clean your clutches.. use highpressure air..(best method is to take your clutches apart blow clean and wipe everthing clean) wipe off clutch disk whit aceton.. clean also your belt in wather whit soap dry careful..

then... test your top rpm again

I have an 08 M1000, all stock but a can. With an 046 belt at 8-10,000, I am getting around 7,600 RPM, as high as 7,670. Is this too high? I just noticed it, my tach was broken last year.

I changed the gears in my sled to 55/65 and having the same overrev problem. The sled is 09 m1000 LE and I'm up approx 200-300 RPM from last year with stock gears. I ride 5-8k, full SLP pipe setup, Pc III controller, 74 gram mtx weights (3g outer, 1g inner), 44-36 helix, 046 belt.

I rode last week in 3' of heavier cascade powder (big load) and the sled was tapping the rev limiter (7900-8000) on long climbs, I'm afraid that in real soft snow it will way overrev?? Was wandering if I went back to 060 belt if that might help or should I add more weight to the primary? Other thought, I could go to single angle helix at about 40 degrees. Hey since were spending my money I could convert to more adjustable secondary to get some spring adjustment, ie could loosen spring.

Any thoughts would help, my head is hurting with all of these clutching thoughts. Thanks

or you could just buy my cutler ajustables and set it up the way you want by the time i stepped up to the good weights i ended up selling the sled 2 weeks later
