When to change clutch weights

How does a person determine when it's time to change weights? I have a stock 2009 X-Fire 800 with approx. 2100 miles. I changed the yellow/white spring the other day and looked at the weights. However I'm not really sure what to look for. They are smooth without any noticeable wear spots and they don't move side to side. I'm also wondering how much play there should be on those plastic buttons?
Thanks
