Might be a dumb question but does it matter how long your hoses are ? I have a turbo smart tee I have a perfect location to put it but it's requires a decent amount of hose.

As long as its within reason, you'll be fine.
what is "decent" in feet?
id say 2-3' of hose is by no means overkill. but try to be to the point in your routing

5ft total system ?
Every 2 ft seems to add a pound of boost to the sled. The ball and spring is gonna make it spike 3-5 lbs. Add a restricter pill in line and it will make it spike as well.
Ditch the check valve for no boost spike.
