Yikes! Etec loss of power (maybe fuel) Only on the Steeps !!!

A couple times now over the last few springs, we have experienced a loss of power/fuel like situations while pulling hard, very steep slopes.
...talk about the LAST place you want to lose power!!!

I say we, for it has happened to both my '14 Summit 600 Etec XM (w/ 1,200 miles), as well as my buddy's '15 Summit 800 Etec XM (500mis)

I have notice that when stalled out on the steeps, the fuel gauge reads really low...showing just a bar, or 2. And when stuck in that situatoin, won't fire back up.
Yet when I coast it back down to level ground, it fires up with the fuel gauge now reading well over a half tank!?!

Other than that situation, engine(s) are running top notch.

Any input is much appreciated

Fuel Delivery Problem

We have run into a situation, on the sleds with carbs, where the device that switches between the two fuel intake tubes (inside the tank) malfunctions). This device does not seem to be used on the Etec. This is leading to the thought that the single intake tube used on the Etec is somehow sucking in air at certain positions and /or fuel levels.
May have to take the tank apart and check the possibilities out.

Same like issue on a 16 800 right after break in mode complete. 350 miles. Done it 3 times all on fairly short steep climbs wide open. I showed 3 codes also afterwards for the rave valve not finding mid position. Pulled the raves to clean them but looked good. Had the raves recalibrated this summer to see if it helps any. Never completely died on steep climb but like half throttle. Got out of it for a second and back on to finish the climbs. Feels like one piston is burning down when this happens.

Check the fuel pressure regulator, skidoo came out with a new regulator retainer to keep them fully seated.

My 14 X was doing this. It was the fuel pressure regulator. My local Doo shop fixed it for me under warranty and I haven't had an issue like it since.

If you don't want to go to the dealer, a 1/4" washer on each fuel pressure regulator hold down screw will do the trick to ensure the FPR stays in place.

It could also have something to do with the fuel pickup line that floats in the rear of the tank, but if you're checking the FPR you can easily check that tube too.

My 15 Freeride would do the same thing on long extended WOT pulls. It was the fuel pressure regulator. Dealer fixed it under warranty and no issues since.

My 2011 Etec 800 did it also, but it was low on fuel. Lost fuel pressure at a steep angle.

I didn't take any, but luckily someone filmed the whole process. This should help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxCFelCm2gM Jump to 8:00 for the fuel sender specific portion. The first 8 min is just getting the tank out. At 8:32 or so he puts the BRP retainer in place, and that's where 1/4" washers will work too.

2016 skidoo XM 800 Intermittent lose of power

Seems to happen more when riding the sled aggressively but it still has happened when riding down a road and all of a sudden a lose of power for like a second. This has happened probably twice on the road . When bouncing around in the pow it's doing it more often now. I'm pretty positive I'm not getting moister in the air box.

My 14 did it, but it was way low on fuel.

My 16 just had the fuel pump replaced to fix a hard start when hot at altitude problem. Will test it out next weekend.

Could be a fuel pressure regulator malfunction
