Great pics and what a perfect day! I summited last August and am going again this August. Stay the night an Muir and go severals times before the big day that helps with the altitude preparation. Good luck! The boots arent too gay.

Back when I did it in '96 we left Paradise at about 7PM...got to Muir around 11PM...slept that night...hung out the next day, then did the summit attempt the next night. Not only do you miss getting baked in the sun on the snowfield, the extra time to acclimate is nice.

Thats awesome! I wish I could go. Some day I will, Looks like you could get to Muir in about 15 minutes on a sled.

About that... And we keep saying that about every 30 minutes on the way up.
We won't know until later this month but I "think" it is possible to ride a T-Apex up to the summit on the east facing slope.... I wonder how long I'd be in jail...???

ruff- its pretty easy actually...follow the trail to the snow line at Pebble Creek....head uphill LOL The boot track is so pounded in in the snow its easy to follow your way up the hill. On a night with just even a little bit of moon its easy to maintain landmarks.

I've looked at it in depth from the Burroughs Mountain trail on the Sunrise side. There is a band of crevasses just after the "Corridor" that would be dicey. Again the bergschrund just at the summit would be another problem. Could make some monster pulls though!!!

It's more mental than physical
Hey my bro and I summited a few years back from the Sunrise side up to camp shurman and than up. It's the hardest physical thing we've ever done but belive it or not, It's tougher mentaly than anything else. There are so many "false" summits on the way up, you have to keep telling your self to keep going. after a while you want to say screw it and turn around, DONT ?? Keep trucking and telling your self you can make it. Also, start drinking gatoraid by the buckets a few days ahead of time, really helps to have lots of fluids to prevent cramping up. One of our best friends trained and worked out like a mad man only to cramp up half way to the top, The good friend of ours who lead us up told us to eat lots of pasta type food and the gatoraid all week long before we went, It worked and we made it, It's the most rewarding feeling getting to the top. You will remember that day all your life, Every time I see that mountain I think of standing on the top !! Hey and the most fun is coming down on your butt, It's fast and easy, I've got ropes, an ax and harness is you want to borrow them!! Good Luck,
