04 900 king cat, is it worth it to do a big bore or not?...

i have an 04 king cat and have heard mixed opinions on people putting big bore kits in and then they would run as good as stock. i have heard the stock 900 is real torquey, powerfull and relieble but big bore kits not so much.. help me out.... i have a single pipe, can and reeds allready installed. any other cheaper good mod out there....?

Buddy of mine had an '04 king with a twin piped D&D 1010. Ran pretty darn good compared to stock.

My dad and I run 975 big bores (use the M1000 piston) and they work great compared to stock.

In our 1 test, our 975s (with pipe, head and reeds) would beat a stock '07 M1000 and run with an '08 M1000 with pipe and head in most conditions.

I think it's worth it, definitely if you plan on riding the king for much longer.

Worth it? Probably not........

Do they work? Yeah, when and ''if'' you get it tuned in. Most do not. Do you know what you're doin' ? I thought I di , but it took two season to get 'er to haul. I must have $15, 000 into mine. It's a hoot to run, but I'm not sure I need so much power. I like my wife's new M-8. At least the hand warmers work.

~$1000, but we have a local shop bore the cylinders, my dad does the porting, we had shims made local, we had the cylinders plated at Millennium and did the head and exhaust valve mods ourselves.

Then we spent exactly 3 rides tuning, and never touched the carbs again. We did have to go back in and increase the squish band, cause we were getting detonation.

Pistons are on Ebay almost all the time.

We've got three of them, and are probably going to do it to our last stock 900 also. Plus, running these cylinders on a triple also.

P.S. Our handwarmers do still work also.

One Name: Ron Hunyady. He makes 990 kits and they run hard. He had a guy with a twin piped 900 who beat a lot of sleds purchase one. He couldn't believe how much harder Ron's motor ran than his twin piped 900 motor.

Go to Youtube and type in Ron Hunyady and click on the videos that pop up. Read the "Info" on the right side.
