I bought a 96 Phazer II with a 136 inch track for my 8 year old. It is really tough to steer. Is there a way "lighten up" the steering or is that just the way the sled was built. I am not sure if the skis are stock or aftermarket. I also noticed that it has a horrible turning radius.

lousy turning radious is the nature of the beast. however, heavy steering is not. lift the front end off the ground and see how the range of motion is lock to lock. if it flows freely, the issue is in the suspension, carbides or the skis. before i go in depth on suspension adjustment, check the steering and carbides first, as well as what skis. improperly installed aftermarket skis will reek havoc on steering geometry.

Maybe loosen up the limiter straps. Simons skis are a nice touch as well.
