While the plasma coating process was one of the most interesting parts of our Rotax experience, probably the most important thing we learned is where the name Rotax originated.
The widely held belief about the Rotax name is that it comes from the rotary valve engine but we learned in Gunskirchen that that is far from accurate. Indeed, the name Rotax comes from the company’s very fist product, a rotary axle which was made for a bicycle. Good to know.
