Get 2 stock sleds, get about 200 miles on them with the same tracks and see. After coming off an M1000 last year and going to an XP 800 this I'd be interested to see this in person. Power to weight lets see..
Box stock weights
M1000 (07 162) wet 619lbs 165hp (weights from wyoming T/A's wet weight thread)
xp 800 163 wet 535lbs 151hp
put a 200lb rider on each sled.

Cat 819/165=4.96 lbs/hp
Doo 735/151=4.86lbs/hp

I still think the M1000 would be the winner here, a lot more torque. Always fun to speculate though.

Add to that the rider be the same person( separate pull of course) and Cat-Doo non-biased to brand(Yama or Pol ok)
on a real Mountain non can top, 20' from each track in 2'.5"-3' powder.
I personally will enjoy watching both sleds performance this year, to pick the next purchase! I really look forward to watching these sleds boondock performance if I can keep up this year! A ride on both is on the list.

I would run my 06 800 Summit against an M1000 anyday, have 2 07's 162" who I ride with. Mine has an 840 kit with RKT heads pipe can clutched and geared with all kinds of other goodies. Hp should be very close on the 2.

M8 vs. XP

just my .02. but while i was up riding daniels summit in utah. (yes we finally have snow!) i watched an obviously set up 08 nightfire M8 (the M8 had pipes, clutching etc) walk up a hill the XP struggled with. the XP rider was not as agressive as the M8 rider but both rode well. my 700 dragon went up the hill very similar to the XP. i believe the XP was still breakin in as the guy riding it took it very easy on it! the XP did look nimble tho. i would like to get some time on one!

they dont compare the m8 because its lower in hp and obviously heavier. doo built a more powerful 800 in an anemic chassis lol its a good sled. but after market mod for mod and looks, u just cant go wrong with the M chassis. and just watch out for 09. im sure CAT can easily build an 800 with over 150 or maybe even 160hp. its all about meeting EPA requirments from the factory. no matter how slow a cat or yamaha may be from the factory, theyre always gonna have the ability to be modded to be the baddest on the hill lol. its why people drive ol chevy muscle cars, because SBC parts are dirt cheap to make a good 400hp street car.

even tho the ford will make more with less!!!
