So i tore into the DD on my 09' M1000 today and was glad because i found this.....

So, now the question is.... do i need to replace it or is it still ok??? The gears all turn freely and feel the same, since i'm in there i have already ordered the 5203 bearing which i hadn't replaced yet (1600 miles). So now i'm thinking i should just order a new planetary from bdx to be safe.

Thanks in advance for comments and advise. :peace:

I caught an M8 about the same way a while back and just replaced the bearing. About 300 miles later opened it up and found two of the planetary bearings were failing. My guess is that even though it didn't look/feel like any of the other parts had been damaged by the initial bearing failure they had been.

Last week my DD exploded on me. Same sled 09 m1000, ironically approximately same mileage. Good news for me, its the only sled that Ive bought extended warranty on :)
