after 6000km at 10psi all in the mountains my 08 800r had the water pump plastic gear fail. i run premix, so no damage to the pistons. As i started to tear it down, i noticed my crank runout was .017" and now im thinkin i should swap the crank while im at it. The brp pistons are still mint, but im kind of thinking i should swap them too and try and get another 6000km. Keep in mind im cheap AF and dont really want to spend the money on brp pistons. the only reason i ran them on the last build was i got them for free from a friend. I really prefer single ring pistons, because there are half as many rings to have an issue. Dave Trygstad told me he now has a coated brp piston, which would be my first choice, but pricey. Anyone else got any suggestions? props to gus bohne who helped me build my engine/turbo setup.
